Video: Kyle Richards Closet

Kyle Richards is my favorite housewife from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  Here's a peek into her fabulous closet!

Meet Paige Bailey, Interior Designer and Owner of One Posh Place

When I was an intern at an interior design firm, I was able to learn about the many home decor stores in town.  I would drop off or pick up items for the designer to use in client's homes and saw first hand the quality and selection that were in these stores.  One store that I immediately was drawn to and fell in love with, was One Posh Place.  It is located in the heart of Arcadia neighborhood, where I grew up, and is filled with timeless pieces.  Blue ginger china plates, wingback chairs, and sterling silver accessories are abundant in this beautiful store.  I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Paige Bailey, and ask her a few questions about her career as an interior designer and store owner.

What do you feel are the benefits and challenges to being an interior designer and a store owner?
The main benefit to the client of working with an interior designer/store owner is that they can see, touch, and sit in the furniture before they actually purchase it.  Clients can also save money and time by taking advantage of in stock furniture and accessories. The main challenge of wearing both the interior designer and store owner hats is that you are managing two businesses, which equates to separate sets of business knowledge and implementation.
Who are your favorite interior designers?
It's a step back in history, but without hesitation, the Greeks.  We use their design principals everyday.
How do you feel that being an interior design and the design world, has changed in the past 10 years?
The internet and the media have a huge impact on designers and our clientele.  It's much easier and expeditious to access the products and services we like and purchase.  Also, our clients are more sophisticated and knowledgeable about what they hope to achieve in their design projects.
How did you get started in the design business?
I worked for over 10 years as a marketing communications manager, developing magazine and radio advertisements, and public relations for a large corporation, while working towards my MBA.  I used these same design, budgetary and people skills in starting my own businesses.
What advice do you wish you had, that you would give someone starting out in this industry?
Learn everything you possibly can about the business of design; every detail, every insight, every article, every class - you can't be overly knowledgeable or involved.

Monogrammed Bedding

I'm loving monogrammed bedding right now.  Actually, I'm loving monogrammed everything!  Adding your monogram to bath towels, beach totes, silver jewelry cases, etc. adds a personalized and sophisticated touch.

Sweet Treats

These are all from Cupcakes and Cashmere by Emily Schuman.  How she thinks of these delicious treats and then perfectly executes them is beyond me!  Homemade oreos, graham crackers, pop tarts, popsicles, thin mints, chocolate chip cookies, sprinkled pretzels...YUM!

Emily Schuman's Home

My favorite blog out of the many blogs I read daily, is Cupcakes and Cashmere by Emily Schuman.  Emily is incredibly, incredibly talented.  Whether it be putting unique outfits together, whipping up delicious treats, or simply photographing pretty things around her home - she is always surprising me with her creativity.  Each and every thing she posts is inspiring in some way or another.  Apartment Therapy featured her LA home and as expected it is charming and fabulous!

Outdoor Spaces

All by Kathryn Ireland.

Spotlight: Kathryn Ireland

Kathryn Ireland is one of the biggest interior and textile designers today.  She is one of five designers to star in Bravo's new reality show Million Dollar Decorators (so excited about this show!)  Her look can be described as comfortable, bohemian, and family-friendly.  She has a unique background as she was an actress, clothing designer, and filmmaker.  When I look at her work, I think "livable."  She has designed beautiful rooms that are incredibly warm and inviting.  You wouldn't be afraid of the furniture getting dirty or linens getting wrinkled.  I can't wait to watch Kathryn on Million Dollar Decorators and see what upcoming projects she is working on.
