The Little Things

It's so easy to get caught up in our agendas and overlook the little things in life.  I've been trying to make a huge effort to "stop and smell the roses" everyday.

Highlights

Nothing like a fresh manicure in OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.  Wearing my ASHA zodiac ring.
View from inside W Magazine.
Two of my favorite things; Cosmopolitans and Chanel
Thanksgiving day with Tommy.
Pillows and side tables from the Oomph showroom in New Canaan.
Delicious deviled eggs with capers on top from Bobo in the West Village.

NYC Beauty Guide

When I moved to NYC, I was worried about finding good hair salons, waxing centers, spas, and manicurists, but thanks to recommendations from friends I have had great experiences thus far.  Here are a few of my favorite beauty spots for those of you who live in NYC!

Scott J Hair Salon - I got a trim with one of their "New Talent" stylists.  She did a great job and used all Aveda products.  Her assistant gave me a neck and hand massage which was amazing.  I printed out the new client $20 off coupon and ended up only paying $30 for my haircut!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brows at Sephora - Best eyebrow waxers in the world.  My brows have never looked better and that is huge for me to say because I am so picky about my brows.  Make sure to make an appointment and be on time.  FYI it is located in the back of the Sephora in Times Square.

Nail Gypsy - A manicurist that comes to you? Yes please!  This is the greatest invention of all time for the working NYC girl. When I don't have time (or don't feel like waiting) to get a manicure I have Nail Gypsy come to wherever I am.  It is such a nice treat for yourself and a great gift idea for a friend!

Uni K - This is a quick and clean waxing center (what more could you want) that has locations all over the city.  I prefer the Upper East Side location over the Murray Hill one, but the Murray Hill one was great nonetheless.

Cape Cod

A few shots from my trip to Cape Cod this past weekend for Thanksgiving.  The dock in front of my Aunt Jane's house - my all time favorite potato chips - the penny candy store - shopping in Osterville -cranberry and hydrangea center piece - walking to the beach behind my aunt's house - Tommy taking in the beautiful view.

Long Hair

I've been meaning to get a hair cut for the past few weeks, but these pictures make me want to keep growing it out.  I just love how natural and carefree long hair looks.

Travel Plans

I'm heading to Cape Cod for Thanksgiving and I absolutely cannot wait!  There is something so relaxing about the Cape.  My favorite memories are simple but wonderful - driving over the bridge in Osterville and looking out at the water, sticking my toes in the sand, collecting seashells to put in a jar on my nightstand, my aunt Jane's windmill, boat rides around the bay, fish and chips, dark chocolate covered cranberries, and grocery shopping at Fancy's Market (I once spotted my idol Ina Garten there!)

Weekend

All week I've been reading about the Christian Louboutin sample sale.  I am so envious of whoever got an invitation to this highly coveted event.  My goal for next year is to score an invite and scoop up as many Louboutins as possible!  Anyways, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend...until Monday! Nantucket Beach House

This is one of my favorite houses.  I would use it year round - staying for weeks in the summer and for a weekend or two in the winter.  The decor would be "beachy" updated traditional with unique accessories throughout.  High ceilings and crisp, white walls would make the house feel spacious, but oversized upholstered chairs and cashmere throws would keep it cozy.  In the summer, a vintage car would be parked in the driveway - top down, ready to go for a drive around the island and a picnic at the beach.

Must Have: Celine Luggage Tote

I am dying to get my hands on this beyond gorgeous Celine bag.  I've put it on a very separate, very unrealistic sort of Christmas/Birthday wish list.

Lashes

Just about every beauty product I own is because a friend gave it to me or recommended it to me.  This past weekend I received a sample of Benefit's Bad Gal mascara and I'm already obsessed!  I still use my YSL Faux Sils mascara (courtesy of my roommate) because it creates really pretty, natural looking lashes, but for going out on the town Bad Gal is the mascara to use. What are your favorite mascaras?

City Apartment

I imagined this being a pre war apartment in New York City.  A young couple with eclectic taste would live here.  They would appreciate the vintage crown molding and hardwood floors, but would make it feel more modern with contemporary furniture.  The color palette would be a mixture of ivories, whites, blacks, and browns.  They would host dinner parties on their balcony and string lights around the stairs in the wintertime.

Just a Few

One of my favorite things about New York is that I am constantly meeting new people and seeing new places.  I had the best time at #BloggerBlitzNYC last night, which was an event for 25 NYC bloggers.  I can't wait until our next event!  A few shots from my week...

My new favorite home decor store; Dovecote in Westport, CT
Rockefeller Center - I cannot wait to go ice skating!
Working the ASHA trunk show at Saks Fifth Avenue

Destination Weddings

I realize I haven't been blogging as much lately and I apologize!  I've been so busy at work using Photoshop (my new favorite program) and creating collages with it to post to my company's Facebook page.  With the bridal shows a few weeks ago, I decided to create bridal collages paired with ASHA earrings.  I chose 3 different destinations; Mustique (a small, private island in the West Indies), Charleston (the perfect place for a southern affair), and Vail (for a winter wonderland wedding).  Which one is your favorite?

Bows

What do you think about bows in your hair?  I think it's kind of a fun way to mix up your everyday hairstyle.  I love the contrast of the black ribbon against the red hair in this first picture.  Since my hair is so dark, I would get a cream ribbon or scarf and tie a loose fitting bow around my ponytail.
