NYE
Happy NYE! What are you doing to celebrate? After a long day of traveling I finally made it back to NYC. My friend Alyssa is having a few of our friends over to ring in the new year and I couldn't be more excited to sip champagne on her couch and watch the ball drop on TV. 2011 has been an amazing year, but I'm looking forward to all that 2012 will offer. This picture is from the Sex and the City movie when Carrie runs to Miranda's apartment on NYE to keep her company. If you're staying in tonight I recommend watching it!

Video: Bill Cunningham New York
I'm currently watching the documentary Bill Cunningham New York which is about Bill's life as a fashion photographer for the New York Times. Bill is a legend amongst New Yorkers. He has had the most exciting career photographing everyone from regular women in the street to Anna Wintour (who speaks about Bill in the film.) It's amazing that he is still working as much as ever at 82 years old. The movie is a must see - below is the trailer.

NYC ----> AZ
I'm flying home tomorrow! I'm so excited to see my family, enjoy my mom's cooking, celebrate my birthday with my best friends, go to my favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants, shop, relax, and watch the sun go down behind Camelback mountain. There is nothing like an Arizona sunset. PS Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I love my readers and can't believe it's been almost a year since I started this blog.

Holiday Nails
This year I am going to spice up my usual red holiday nails with a layer of glitter polish. I love Essie's Winter 2011 polish collection mixed with the glittery polishes below.

Birthday Wishes
Happy Birthday to my wonderful boyfriend Tommy! I cannot wait to see his face when he opens the gift I got him. If he didn't read my blog everyday, I would share what it is, but look out for a post on it in the very near future.
Dress is BCBG and earrings are Lee Brevard from Neiman Marcus
Minimally Divine
The pre-war architecture, high ceilings, wood floors, fireplaces, and double pane windows give this apartment instant charm. The girl living here would be too busy to decorate. All of her free time would be occupied exploring the vintage shops and quaint cafes in her West Village neighborhood. The only things in her apartment would be a big white bed filled with down pillows, two plush chairs she scored at the Brooklyn Flea Market, and a few meaningful odds and ends on the fireplace.

Thanks to Bluefly for giving us a peek inside NYC blogger Leandra Medine's designer-filled closet. Leandra writes The Man Repeller and has an incredible knack for layering funky and classic pieces together.
City Guide: New York, New York Pt. 3
A friend of mine asked me for shopping suggestions for her upcoming trip to NYC. I created a shopping guide when I first moved to the city, along with a dining guide, which you can see here, here, and here. Below are a few of my new favorite stores.
beautylogicblog.com, nitrolicious.com, casadecor.com, rchitizer.com, racked.com
Dash - Dash carries major brands like Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Alice and Olivia and Wildfox, and always has great sales.
Zara - At Zara you'll find affordable clothes that are both trendy and classic.
Joie - Their Madison Avenue flagship store is heavenly. No one does floral blouses and shearling jackets better than Joie.
Searle - If you're looking for a great coat, Searle is the place to go.
Calypso - There are several Calypso stores throughout the city, but my favorite is the Madison Avenue store right near Joie and Alice and Olivia.
Alice and Olivia - Here you will find everything from sequined party dresses to flattering work attire.
Happy Shopping!

Birthday Wish List
Since my birthday is this Friday, I've made a little wish list comprised of things both realistic and unrealistic. I'm most coveting the Proenza Schouler PS1 bag...a girl can dream right?
'Tis the Season
This past weekend I enjoyed SantaCon where everyone dressed up as Santa, elves, or reindeer and went from bar to bar. It was very fun to say the least! It got me so in the mood for Christmas. I've got my Christmas Pandora station playing and am pouring over pictures of Christmas trees on Pinterest. Here are a few of my favorites.

Laduree
A few shots from Laduree; a Parisian macaron shop I'd been dying to try since it opened last summer. My roommate and I got a variety of macarons - chocolate, pistachio, coconut, salted caramel, vanilla, raspberry, blackberry lavender and coffee. My favorite was hands down the salted caramel. A box of these would make such a perfect stocking stuffer or birthday gift.

Retreat
I'd love to have this country house for weekend retreats. It would be located far away from city life, surrounded by thick foliage and an iron fence for ultimate privacy. The ivy growing up it's brick exterior, classic chimney and circular drive give this house instant charm and warmth. Antiques and pretty french fabrics would simply enhance it's charm, and fruit and fresh flowers would cover every counter and table in the house.
