Must Have: Statement Necklaces

My latest must have is a chunky statement necklace.  It's such an easy way to pull an outfit together and add that extra pop of color.  While I was home in Arizona, I picked up this Oliphant necklace and this JCrew necklace in orange.  I cannot wait until it's warm enough to layer them over my white sundresses and colorful T's.  I am loving this Loren Hope necklace and this JCrew necklace in turquoise.

Bon Weekend

TGIF to all of my lovely readers!  And congrats to Carolyn McDonough, the winner of the ASHA zodiac necklace.  I used a random number generator and Carolyn was #9.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

City Guide: New York, New York Pt. 5

One of my favorite things to do is try new restaurants.  I have an ongoing list of must-try restaurants saved on my phone that I am constantly referencing.  If I need a specific type of restaurant I love to use the iPhone app Urban Daddy.  It asks you to answer what day, time, location, atmosphere, and type of food you want.  Then it asks you what kind of experience you want - the choices are hilarious everything from "I want to end this date quickly" or "I want a serious cocktail."  Urban Daddy helped me find a few of the restaurants below.  I love gourmet comfort food that is moderately priced paired with a great atmosphere - and these 6 restaurants offer all of those things.

1.  The Plaza Food Hall - Started by the famous (and very handsome!) chef, Todd English, the Plaza Food Hall is my favorite Upper East Side lunch spot.  It offers every type of cuisine you could want - from sushi, to pizza, to an oyster bar - everything on the menu is delicious.  And it is surprisingly well priced for being in the Plaza hotel!
2.  Extra Virgin - You may have to wait a bit at this famous West Village joint, but it will be worth it!  Great wine and great pasta dishes.
3.  Tipsy Parson - I love this neighborhood Chelsea restaurant.  The decor is charming with distressed leather booths and framed floral fabric on the walls, you feel right at home.  Their buttermilk chive biscuit is a must have.
4.  Freemans - Freemans is my new favorite restaurant.  Located down a hidden alley, this 2 story restaurant is always packed.  Go for brunch or for dinner - both menus are equally amazing - and make sure to get the hot artichoke dip.
5.  Peels - The quintessential brunch spot.  Their bellini is one of the best I've ever had.
6.  Aria - Aria is everything you would want in a wine bar, dimly lit, great crowd, and cozy decor.  It's down the street from Extra Virgin and is the more affordable restaurant out of the two.

Estate Wedding

I think an estate wedding is so magical - it's intimate and old world.  I picture this wedding in a romantic town in Italy.  The food, wine, and flowers would all be over-the-top and decadent.  Guests would watch fireworks go off at the end of the night and be able to make themselves right at home in one of the estate's 27 rooms.

Spotlight: Alessandra Branca

I mean...just look at these rooms!  They are all by interior designer Alessandra Branca who was recently named House Beautiful's first Master Class Designer.  Alessandra's eye for design began at an early age.  Growing up in Rome, Alessandra was surrounded by some of the world's finest art and architecture.  "She learned early that even formal beauty was meant to be intermingled with everyday life, and that the well-lived life takes place not in stiff and somber surroundings, but in artful structures graced with a comfortable elegance and wit." (from her "About" section on her website)  Her interiors are traditional, but with a twist.  I envy the way she perfectly mixes bold patterns and bright colors in all of her rooms.

GPH

I loved that I was able to wear this outfit all day and all night.  It's the best when an outfit can transition from day to night and save you time so you can get the most out of your day! These pictures were taken outside the beautiful Gramercy Park and inside the Gramercy Park hotel.

Shabby Chic Abode

Imagine this was your apartment - you could decorate it however you please.  You could fill it with Shabby Chic pillows, cream cashmere throws, silver candles and pink peonies.  It would be big enough to hold your impressive collection of vintage gowns, bags, and furs.  The second bedroom would be converted into a closet and dressing room, where a mirrored vanity would display perfumes and jewels. You'd never want to leave because of how incredibly cozy it was...

It's Beginning

...to feel a lot like Spring!  Goodbye down coats, hello lightweight jackets.  It's still cool enough at night to wear a little fur vest but it won't be for much longer.  Temperatures are continuously rising here in the city and it makes me so happy.  This weekend I'll be switching out my Fall/Winter wardrobe for my Spring/Summer one.  If you know me, you know I love to organize - so I am really, really looking forward to this weekend!

Take Me Away...

I'd love to get away - just for a week - and go somewhere exotic like Antigua or St. Barths.  I'd sink my toes into the soft, white sand, lay out on the beach, explore the town, dance the night away, then wake up and do it all over again.
