The Perfect Settee

After months of scouring every furniture store imaginable, I have finally found the perfect settee.  My apartment is almost complete and its feel so good.  More pictures to come!

I had the best time in Houston this past week.  I definitely experienced "Southern Hospitality" - everyone was so kind, welcoming, and generous.  I'm happy to be back home though - I missed the city.  "I look out the window and I see the lights and the skyline and the people on the street rushing around looking for action, love, and the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie, and my heart does a little dance." -Nora Ephron  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Spotlight: Carla Bonner of Blueseeds

Remember when I posted a few shots of my mom's house here?  Most of my mom's furnishings came from this amazing home decor store in Phoenix called Blueseeds.  The interior designer and owner behind Blueseeds; Carla Bonner, has impeccable taste.  I love how she mixes traditional pieces with unexpected patterns, pops of color, and eclectic elements.  I'm heading to Arizona in 2 weeks and cannot wait to pop into the store - I'm hoping to find a great throw pillow (or two) for my apartment!

Chic Wall Art

I desperately need artwork for my apartment so I decided to search Pinterest for inspiration.  While searching, I came across the picture on the bottom left which originally came from one of my favorite design blogs; The Zhush!  I love everything about the picture - from the vibrant colors to the pattern. I'm thinking it would be fun to do a gallery wall with pictures that are all different shapes and sizes. What do you think?

Must Have Bag: YSL Cabas Chyc

My new favorite bag is the YSL "Cabas Chyc" bag.  After a recent trip to Bergdorfs, I tried on the bag in Black, Beige, and Biscuit (a saddle brown color.)  The Biscuit color was such a gorgeous, rich shade of brown...I think I may need it!

Ippolita Fall Preview

I first fell in love with Ippolita my senior year of high school.  I was on the hunt for a pair of gold chandelier earrings to go along with my strapless, Grecian-esque prom dress and stumbled upon Ippolita in the case at Neiman Marcus.  My love for Ippolita only grew from there and that's why I was particularly giddy when they invited me to preview their Fall 2012 collection.  A few pictures from last night...

Annie Griffin

Last week my friend Jen (who designs these fabulous tunics!) was telling me about her favorite clothing line; Annie Griffin.  I had never heard of Annie Griffin before (apparently I've been living under a rock since they have 7,000+ Facebook fans!) so I decided to check out their site.  I loved what I saw.  Annie Griffin was started by two darling sisters - Annie and Robin - three years ago.  The Georgian based line has grown at such a fast pace and is carried in over 200 boutiques around the country.  I just snapped up this blouse - the silk is so soft and the colors are so pretty.  Outfit post to come!

Momofuku Milk Bar

I adore Momofuku Milk Bar.  There are several different locations in the city, but I'm partial towards the East Village one.  I always get the same thing - a cornflake cookie (made of cornflakes, chocolate chips, and marshmallows - yes it's as good as it sounds) and a cereal milk milkshake which is absolutely divine.  I found the Momofuku cornflake cookie recipe on this blog a few days ago and am dying to make my own this weekend!

Weekend Casual

Sundays are for relaxing and that is exactly what I did.  I slept in 'til noon, threw on my ridiculously soft Three Dots tank and headed down to Soho for brunch at Peels (their biscuits and scrambled eggs are to die for!)

West Village Townhouse Exterior

While strolling around the West Village today I walked by the townhouse from my last post.  Isn't the exterior charming?  There are only a few things I would change.  I would add black window boxes filled with bright flowers and two tall topiaries to frame the door.  Would you change anything or leave it just the way it is?

Tommy works in real estate (on the commercial side) but he loves to browse the residential listings on the New York Times every week.  He is always sending me links to stunning townhouses that are for sale and this was one of his favorites.  The skylight ceiling, herringbone wood floors, and marble counters are beautiful additions to this townhouse that was originally built in 1848.  I love the fact that it's newly renovated and unfurnished - it's just a blank canvas waiting for me to come in and decorate it!

Gypsy

Tommy came home with this beautiful bundle of hybrid tea roses - he's the best.  The gorgeous orange-yellow color in the roses inspired me to do an outfit post wearing one of my favorite summery dresses by Gypsy05.  If you're tired of seeing me wearing dresses and carrying my french market basket, I'm not sorry.  I think I'm the only person in New York who isn't ready/excited for Fall.  (Ok, maybe I'm a little bit excited - Fashion Week is just around the corner!) Rooftop Daydreams

I'm so looking forward to the weekend.  I'll be spending Saturday night on a rooftop in Chelsea celebrating my girlfriend's birthday.  Everyone is bringing something to eat - so I decided I'm going to bring a big plate of tomato mozzarella skewers.  I hope the weather behaves for our outdoor festivities and I hope my caprese skewers turn out as pretty as these!
